Vision boards are a popular way to support the visualisation of a goal, using the power of the law of attraction. The law of attraction states that what enters your life is a result of what you attract into your life. By building a mental picture of what you want, you will attract positive ways to make it happen. A vision board represents things you want to have.
The pictures act as a positive emotional connector for your vision. The reticular activating system (RAS) is the information filtering system in the brain and vision boards work by programming the RAS to tune into things in the environment that can help a person move closer towards their goal. The RAS tags information that is important, stores it within the neurology and then pays attention to it in the environment.
An example of this is when a new parent has been programmed to tune in to the small snuffles or whimpers of their baby at night. Maybe you’ve bought a new coat and all of a sudden you notice other people wearing the same or similar coat.
By programming the RAS with a vision board, in theory, the RAS will seek out things in the environment that are in alignment with it.
