By: Penny Wood DTM, MAPM, MCMI – representing inspired2learn in Armenia 4th October 2017
As an Associate of Inspired2learn @i2lselfstudy, a UK provider delivering Chartered Management Institute’s qualifications in Armenia, it was my honour to represent them as a keynote speaker and workshop facilitator at this exciting event.
The morning opened with an address from HM Ambassador Judith Farnworth, I was invited as a keynote speaker to talk about strategic leadership – I discussed the challenges for a strategic leader in today’s ‘VUCA’ world, the qualities and what it takes to become a strategic leader and strategies you can put in place to support yourself on your own strategic leadership journey. I then joined one of several panels where the discussion centered around the challenges of leadership in the 21st Century.
In the afternoon there were four streams of workshops. I was part of the Strategic Management and Leadership stream and I delivered an interactive workshop on the topic of the growth mindset v fixed mindset. We had fun re-creating the two types of conversations and discussing the impact of both.
The afternoon culminated in the presentation of the Young Manager Challenge award. This was a great example of how to empower young leaders of the future. Teams of students from Armenian universities competed during the afternoon and the winners received their awards from HM Ambassador of Armenia, Judith Farnworth.
It was such an inspirational day. Business is doing well in Armenia and strong leadership will take the country to the next level. Several CEO’s talked about how their businesses are succeeding and growing globally in sectors such as the tech & digital industry, to banking, manufacturing etc. Such a diverse group of businesses in the room and an amazing opportunity to learn, network and collaborate together. Did you know that Armenia is developing as the ‘silicone valley’ of Europe? Next year, the WORLD IT Forum is coming to Yerevan. I’m excited to see how the strategic leaders of Armenia develop and grow for the future.
Inspired2learn will be back next year at this annual event. If you are interested to learn more, or you would like Penny to come and speak at your event, please do not hesitate to contact her: penny@pennywoodtalks.com
