Objectives – A-Z of Coaching & Mentoring

about us hero image

A – Z Coaching and Mentoring – This week’s extract defines objectives and the difference between them and aims.

Oo

Objectives are the steps the client is going to take and should include a small number of very feasible and clear tasks that the client is committed to in the near future.

Objectives will be sensible and precise so that they state exactly what will be done.

Aims and objectives are terms that are easily and often confused.

Aims are the broad statements of what the client wants and their intentions. Aims paint a brief picture of what the client is seeking to achieve and shouldn’t include any reference to the steps or ‘how’ they are going to achieve it.
