I’ve learned a lot about a huge variety of tasks that transfer well between individual and organisational development. This has directly contributed to me being able to make my next career move. I’ve also learned more about myself. As a coach I am better able to support individuals as part of their development journey, and help ensure they are well-placed to deliver on personal and organisational goals. I used coaching techniques and exercises as part of the staff engagement when developing our new strategy, This helped shape the strategy, and really engaged staff in the process. Fundamentally, it’s made me a better manager and we now use coaches as part of our core development process. I can provide better support to colleagues and have a deeper understanding of underlying issues or concepts that can help us work together on issues or challenges. For me, the link between individual and organisational development is now even stronger, and I can better knit the two together.
